Beavertail Trailers: Trailers For All Your Projects.
Choosing the right trailer for your project is important. It ensures that your project runs smoothly and is completed on time, and has the power it needs to succeed. Every industry has different requirements. For example, earthmoving projects will require trailers that can handle heavy loads for transportation.
Whether you’re in the Agriculture industry, freight or construction, we’ll ensure that you’re set up with a trailer that suits your project needs.
Our trailers are Australian-made, and we’ve been in the business since 1987, so whether you need a low loader, tag trailer or B-double, you can trust that we have just the right thing for you.
Our Core Trailers:
Our team works hard to ensure that we have a high-quality and durable trailer that will meet your project’s demands. And, if it’s not quite right, you can always customise it with us, too!
We have a variety of trailers available, including:
- Tag Trailers: Tag trailers are usually towed behind a truck using a hitch type like Pintle eye, Bartlett Hood or Ringfeder. They are used to transport equipment like skid steers and excavators. With a load capacity ranging from 4 to 21 tonnes, they are versatile and adaptable for various hauling needs.
- Drop Deck Trailers: Drop deck trailers have a lower deck height, which makes them ideal for hauling taller machinery without exceeding height restrictions. We have a range of drop deck trailers available, such as 39’, 45’ tandem and tri axle trailers.
- Flat Top Trailers: Generally used for freight, palletised goods and wider loads, flat top trailers can carry up to 31* tonnes.
- Pig Trailers: Pig trailers are designed for manoeuvrability and handling specific types of loads, with their wheels positioned centrally. The load is carried entirely by the trailer itself, while the towing truck provides pulling force only and does not bear any of the load.
- Dog Trailers: With axles at the front and rear of the trailer, they provide stability when towing. They are designed to be pulled by trucks, with the trailer carrying the load while the truck supplies the pulling force, making them suitable for transporting heavy loads.
What Are The Key Differences Between Dog and Pig Trailers?
Dog and pig trailers are adaptable for almost any project, but they are slightly different in specification and application. For example:
- Steering Type: Pig trailers don’t have a steerable front axle, so they follow the path of the towing vehicle. However, dog trailers connect to trucks via hinged A-frame drawbars, so they are steerable and pivotable.
- Manoeuvrability: Dog trailers are particularly adept at pivoting and maneuvering through winding roads, tight roundabouts or other terrains. Whereas, pig trailers can require a little more strategy when completing difficult turns or pivots to ensure that they are done safely.
- Load Capacity: Pig trailers are usually used for lighter-to medium-weight load transportation, but dog trailers are designed to carry heavier payloads (with up to 25* tonne carry capacity).
So, when you’re deciding between a pig and a dog trailer, it really comes down to your terrain, load type and site access. But don’t worry, our team will help guide you in the right direction. Get a free quote today.
